I’ll take a brand new GT in this gorgeous metallic green they offer. Now that these beasts have IRS and a decent interior, I’m in love. I liked them as soon as they came out but I’ve heard a few with “mild” exhausts - the sound is intoxicating. Maybe there will be a CPO 2015+ in my future...

Sir, I admire your lack of badge snobbery. These are undeniably very handsome cars - interesting choice

Get one of the 700+hp ones from Lebanon Ford. They start at $39,990.

Any of these…

Fantasy answer: Golf R; 6MT, Non-Nav
Real Answer (because I actually bought one): GTI; SE, 6MT, 4-door, Performance Pack, in Night Blue, dealer swapped the plaid cloth seats from the S model in for me.
![]() 06/03/2016 at 10:34 |

Golf R prolly.
![]() 06/03/2016 at 10:34 |

I’d crash that instantly lol. Never driven anything over like 270 horsepower haha
![]() 06/03/2016 at 10:34 |

Focus RS all day. Maybe a 228i with the track pack. Well, maybe a Challenger Scat Pack.
![]() 06/03/2016 at 10:34 |

Probably a loaded V6 Accord Coupe EX-L, because biased. And also because that’s not entirely improbable... ... ... ...
![]() 06/03/2016 at 10:35 |

I’d love to drive one, the GTI I drove had the nicest M/T gearbox I’ve ever used
![]() 06/03/2016 at 10:36 |

Probably a Nissan 370Z Sport

They’re good looking cars. I wish they offered AWD though

That's been our budget for the last 4 cars we bought....always ended up spending way less because the stuff in the 30-40 range just weren't worth it. Ended up with Mazda 6, GTI, FiST, FoST.
![]() 06/03/2016 at 10:38 |

I’d say the Challenger, because then you get to say SCAT PACK in a dad voice
![]() 06/03/2016 at 10:38 |

I’d probably make the same decision.
My buddy Mike’s car looks awesome on some Volk TE37s

Challenger Scat Pack. If they still offered it, in Sublime Green, but they don’t. So I’ll have to go with B5 Blue, which is a color I’m seriously considering painting my Cougar.
![]() 06/03/2016 at 10:38 |

yeah realistically a nice GT can be had for well under list at 28 -29

Miata

Well, it is a Mustang, so it’ll crash eventually. At least the 700hp one will help you get to that result quickly ;)

Can you un-ban me. Dusty was supposed to let me back in yesterday. I had asked (yeah, I asked for a temp ban, funny story) and it was supposed to be over by now.
Thanks

I drove a 5.0 last weekend, and I’m pretty much smitten. It’s REALLY hard not to go out and buy one.
Just like this.

Why bother with new? for $40k I’d get a Porsche 912, 1969 Corvette 427, Austin Healey 3000 or maybe a Mercedes 250 SL. If I’m going to spend forty thousand dollars on a car I don’t want it to look like all the other modern, airbag-filled cars on the road.
![]() 06/03/2016 at 10:44 |

I already do, and I’m 16.
![]() 06/03/2016 at 10:46 |

I’d want the Polestar version, which would be closer to $60k.

Megane 275. Enjoy some Renaultsport before they ruin the Megane with that terrible DCT they’re obsessed with.
06/03/2016 at 10:48 |

Scat Pack Challenger or GMC Canyon or Toyota Tacoma.
![]() 06/03/2016 at 10:50 |

An IS350 F Sport.
EDIT: Oh shoot I just realized it said new, I’ll take an Accord Coupe V6 with a stick.

Focus RS for under 40 grand? Lucky Americans. It starts at 47k in Canada. The Mustang GT is $39,648 without any options.
I’d probably go with either a MX-5 (I’d have to go GS, as GT goes to 41k), or a fully-loaded Blue exterior, white interior Mazda 6 GT with Manual trans. About $35k
![]() 06/03/2016 at 10:52 |
|
40k is such a tough mark. Everything I want is just a little bit more. I think I’d have to go FoRS.
![]() 06/03/2016 at 11:05 |

hahah so true! I’d probably take the pony badges off so I could pretend I didn’t own a mustang

ooooh yeah that color looks great with the glass roof

as I say every time someone posts french stuff on oppo, I REALLY wish they’d come to the US. Maybe Ren or Cit will consider if Alfa does well

ughhhh GIMME. that looks absolutely stunning, good on him
![]() 06/03/2016 at 11:09 |

I like these too, especially lowered a little
![]() 06/03/2016 at 11:09 |

It’s just the painted roof option, I don’t think they’re doing the glass roof on this one.

YEP. I actually have a degree in German and Scandinavian studies. Which means any Volvo is instantly cool IMO. I love their design language these days - so tasteful, so modern

He’s one of the head guys at a very reputable shop in the Chicago area. You can follow the build on their blog: http://tougefactory.com/shop/2016/05/p…

new, this. With pretty much bolt-ons you can push over 500hp. hoping this would confuse the common non-car folk and make them move out my way. haha
![]() 06/03/2016 at 11:16 |
|
lol I’ve done the no airbag thing, my first car was a 635csi. What an amazing experience that was, so many memories... I miss it. I’d blow 40K on another one, an XJS V12, a pre 86 fox body, and an eighties 454 suburban in an instant
![]() 06/03/2016 at 11:17 |

For me it would be a fantastic daily, not sti hard but fast and great in Michigan winter, plus it’s practical and comfortable enough for daily driver duty. Plus I can get the one I want for about 27K so I will probably be buying one when I finish college and get a decent job.

I’m so proud of Cadillac, they make amazing cars these days. ‘MURICA

I support any and all fast sedan related decisions. Non-car people just have no idea that sedans can be fast too, which is hilarious to me

Probably cliché, but Volkswagen Golf R. All weather practicality, spacious, reasonable features available, and can get with either a manual or DSG.
![]() 06/03/2016 at 11:26 |

It was a total death trap, but a ton of fun. 165,000 miles and it never left me stranded haha
![]() 06/03/2016 at 11:27 |

yep. the color was more important than model accuracy

I need another! Realistically I’ll probably buy one of the deathtraps I mentioned to you before I buy a new car. Because two is better than one, especially if one is ancient and reeks of gas.

will (try to) hustle the Chevy SS down to 40k
![]() 06/03/2016 at 11:33 |

This is true. I’ve always enjoyed having a fun classic car and a reliable ~$2,000 beater to get around in.

I saw one yesterday! “Is that an orange impala?.... NO ITS NOT”
![]() 06/03/2016 at 12:06 |

It’s happened in recent years because of the dollar. Back in 2012ish the US and Canadian dollars where about the same, going back and forth. Now, the US dollar is worth more, iirc like 20 cents more.
for example, a video game that is $59.99 in the US is $79.99 here.
![]() 06/03/2016 at 12:06 |

HFP package and a few options gets you right around $40k.
![]() 06/03/2016 at 12:29 |

Leftover 2015 or even 2014 SS.
![]() 06/03/2016 at 12:34 |

they are about 87% there if you ask me. I find the interiors across the board minus V trims to have too many weak spots yet for the prices they are asking. but mechanically and styling I couldn’t agree more.
Don’t get wrong to me the 4th Gen Seville is still the best thing Cadillac has ever built but that’s because of my personal tastes and admittedly they suffered some quality issues. The thing about those though is they felt special compared to most cars of their time. They drove amazingly in spite of being FWD, the northstar was a special engine and for a FWD car they handled much better than they should eve have. blah blah blah. sorry I’ll shut up.
TLDR: Super proud of Cadillac but they need to stop doing the GM 80% and go full 100% on their cars, also unhealthy love for old poorly build Cadillacs

It would have to be the Audi A3 Sportbak e-tron. Love that car .
